To the Editor:

In response to the recent letter regarding KXLE hosting Savage Nation:

I am a long time and religious listener to most of KXLE’s programming, especially the Mariners broadcasts. From G. Gordon Liddy in the morning, el Rushbo, Dr. Edell, Barry Farber at work AND Michael Savage (when not pre-empted by the Mariners.) Then I turn the radio off until Art Bell comes on at 10. I don’t care to listen to problems people are having in their bedrooms. That’s part of my choice as a freedom loving American.

I understand there are people who enjoy Dr. Joy (or whatever her name is.) I support not only people’s right to listen to people snivel about their emotional instabilities, but also people’s right to talk about them. Our First Amendment is a large part of what makes this country great. It guarantees freedom of speech but does not require us to listen to everything. It allows us as intelligent FREE-thinking Americans to decide for ourselves.

Now, in defense of Mr. Savage: He is a no-nonsense, straight to the point, sometimes coarse and offensive, but only when necessary, and opinionated host. He doesn’t allow his callers to waste his (or my) time with trivial spin. I like that. He does not, as was implied, advocate violence against innocent people here, there, or because of race or religion. His longstanding banner has been “Language, Borders, Culture” is what makes our country great. He has been correct for six years preaching against the softening of our borders and now we see the results.

I support KXLE for their quality programming and hope they keep it up. And I hope that we all remember that another thing that makes us free, as Americans, is that we vote. Vote with your ON-OFF switch on your radio, not with (reverend) Jack-suun-like techniques of boycotts and threats. God bless America and go Mariners!
