No power outage at Safeco Field

Joel Pinero had all the light he needed from his teammates to find his way around the Red Sox hitters Tuesday night. Thanks to KXLE 1240 radio for keeping us all informed through the blackout on this side of the mountains. Perhaps we needed to sacrifice some of our megawatts so the M’s could light up Puget Sound for a night. And Joel thanks us for helping him get out of those 2-runners-on tunnels he dug himself into the first three innings.

When he got back up for the fourth he had a big boost of electricity from the surge he got from us giving up ours for the next three. As I was fumbling for my battery operated radio I tuned in to Desi Relaford sliding in to third and getting an RBI to tie the game. And Ichiro didn’t take too long to charge the ball to the wall and bring him home for the lead. By the time I found my flashlight Edgar was up with the bases loaded. 2 insurance runs! Meanwhile I’m cheering KXLE, KXLE, KXLE while between each cheer wondering if I’d payed my power bill.

It’s not like they were lacking for power when they were out of town. How many times did they score 2 digits and lose? I guess the power company figured if they redirect some extra watts to make sure the home fans didn’t have to see pitching like last week, we’d thank them too.

We were glad to oblige. We weren’t too much the worse for it. A few out of towners who didn’t know there was a stoplight put in there before. But they’ll have to admit at least they could still hear the Mariners put crooked numbers up back home on their radio as they waited for the tow truck.

By the time Pinero had to give us back the watts  in the sixth because it had gotten dark, he already had enough charge with a 6 run lead. So a home run to Manny didn’t even phase him. And when he sat down for Rhodes and Creek he had the bill in his pocket. Paid in full. And I could lean back and take that durn thing out of my ear and make a reminder to pay my power bill tomorrow.

We are going to have to figure out some way to get renumeration for watts we gave up so that 45 some thousand could stand up and spill their Cracker Jacks. And don’t even mention wind farm, I don’t wanna hear it.

Anyone have tickets? And a car? I’d love to get an autograph from my favorite Pilot Tommy Harper.
